The owner of this house was keen to renovate his single storey terrace house to make way for his future family. The terrace featured an old fibro extension with a toilet that was only accessible from the outside.

The original terrace was untouched except for a paint job. The remainder was demolished, and a new living area was added on. Three bedrooms with a bathroom, en-suite and walk in robe are located on the first floor.

A garage was designed at the rear boundary, with a loft on the first floor.

Landscaping played a major role in the renovation. Updated landscaping features at the front, side and back of the house. The foliage helps to create additional privacy between neighbours, as well as enhancing the renovation.

The design fell in line with heritage constraints of the area, with the original house features being renovated, such as gutters and windows. The new upstairs addition was made of brick veneer with a zinc cladding. The client chose a cost plus contract, to enable him to choose finishes as he went through the project, as he was unsure of the final look he was after. The builder provided him with realistic allowances for his unknowns, such as finishes, fixtures and joinery. This enabled him to get a realistic picture of the build cost, and the freedom to choose his finishes at realistic market prices.
